Exhibit

Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth. is an immersive experience—exhibition as installation art. In heralding the achievements of notable African American men from across the decades, Men of Change highlights deep parallels between past and present. Whether physically walking through the exhibition or visiting online, you will encounter a world of men, women, and communities that affirm the power of the African American journey and, ultimately, the American experience. Each category—Storytellers, Myth-Breakers, Fathering, Community, Imagining, Catalysts, and Loving—presents a different view of men we might think we already know.

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is proud to collaborate with the Birmingham Public Library to share Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth

The exhibition from the Smithsonian presents the narrative of a nation through the profiles of significant African-American men who are icons in the country’s historical and cultural landscape. Birmingham is the final stop on an eight-city national tour.

Men of Change was developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and made possible through the generous support of the Ford Motor Company Fund.

The exhibit will run from September 16 – December 2, 2023 in two locations – Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Birmingham Public Library's Central Library.
